How Market Your Black Friday + Cyber Monday Sales

I have one more thing to share with you about having a profitable Black Friday + Cyber Monday sale… and it’s all about getting the word out!
We already talked about using ads and social media posts to spread the word. Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok are especially great ways to get seen by your people… especially if you leverage the power of video!
However, don’t make the mistake of neglecting your OWNED media. This includes things like your mailing list, your blog, and SMS. The things you have more control over and that don’t rely on some ever-changing algorithm. When you write an email, send out an update about your blog via the RSS Feed, or send a text message to someone’s phone, you know it’s going to make it to their end. Sure, getting tossed into spam is a possibility, but it’s one you can easily avoid by using email best practices.
And the best thing is that when you nurture these lines of communication, you can build a relationship with your people for well beyond the holidays.
Personally, I’m an email lover. I LOVE reading emails from brands and people I enjoy. I kinda geek out about them, actually, lol! (Hence part of the reason I’m The Geeky Copywriter) It’s also one of the things I write most frequently for my clients.
Here are some of the emails you can send to your list to get them excited to shop with you for Black Friday and Cyber Monday:
→ Teaser email letting them know you have something exciting planned for Black Friday + Cyber Monday
→ Sneak peeks that drop hints about what you’ve got up your sleeve
→ Behind-the-Scenes that let people see you at work
→ Contests and giveaways related to your sale
→ An announcement email letting people know what the sale will be
→ Product/service breakdown email where you give all the details on the product/service
→ FAQs email where you answer any questions people may have about the product/service
→ Countdown emails reminding people to set their timers
→ “It’s live!” email where you open the virtual doors to your sale
→ Reminders about the sale
→ Doors closing email where you remind people it’s their last chance to get the deal(s)
→ Downsell email where you offer a different, smaller offer to people who opened your sale emails, but didn’t buy in time
But, like any good investor, keep in mind that you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket. If you’re going to invest your time into planning an epic Black Friday weekend sale, be sure to diversify your marketing tactics.
Here are a few ideas for other content you can start creating now to make the most out of Black Friday 2021:
→ Videos teasing AND announcing your deals plus describing the actual product/service
→ Blog posts related to the pain/desire point your product/service addresses
→ Landing page to join your mailing list
→ Sales page(s) for the actual deal(s)
→ Ad copy for your targeted audience(s)
→ Guest posts and paid newsletter copy to announce your Black Friday + Cyber Monday deals
→ Social media content for all your favorite platforms ( FB, IG, Tik Tok, Twitter, etc)
Also, don’t forget that there’s power in numbers! Here are a few ideas on how you can get others to help spread the word:
→ Do a Google search for “Black Friday roundup” and “Black Friday roundup + your niche” to see who has created blog posts in the past sharing Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals with their audience. Reach out to the ones who seem like a good fit and ask if you can be included in their roundup for this year. (The content creator in me also wants to remind you to be willing to pay for inclusion! Writing blog posts takes time and they’re giving you access to their audience so YOU can earn money.)
→ Set up an affiliate program where people can promote your Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals to their network and earn money every time someone uses their referral link to place an order. People already love sharing when they come across a great way to save money on something they want or need (because we like to be helpful and savvy), so getting PAID to do it is just really tasty icing on the cake.
Ok, that’s all I’ve got for you today, lovely people!
